Metaplace, a virtual world startup that enables users to create their own custom virtual worlds, has raised $6.7 million in second round of funding from Charles River Ventures with Cresendo Ventures, Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz also participating in the round. The round takes the total amount raised to-date to $9.4 million. Although the game is currently in invite-only private beta, you can gain access by grabbing the access code from TechCrunch.

The proceeds from the round would be used to further develop the platform that allows users to create flash based virtual worlds just by dragging and dropping components. In addition to this the site sports a full fledge scripting engine that enables users to create their own custom gameplay features.
