Google Cheating Once Again – Using AdSense Public Service Ads for Self Promotion

Not feeling guilty about the shameless act of pumping its own properties on top of legit websites, Google is now at it again. This time the Search Giant is using the AdSense Public Service Ads to shamelessly link to itself.

Google launched a 2008 U.S. Election site in August, that is very much a web portal with information about US elections in the form of links to Google properties like Youtube, Knol, Google Maps etc. Now whenever AdSense gets a chance, it shameless stuffs in ads of this Google Portal instead of showing something more worthwhile. This is cheating by every definition of the word, since these ads don’t fulfil the basic criteria of being a PSA, as Google is a for profit organization.

So why exactly is Google doing all this. According to their own words:

Google said the new applications are part of their effort to enhance the search giant’s involvement in U.S. politics and, ultimately, to become as central to the electoral process as Google and YouTube have been to media usage.

The new Google motto ought to be DO BE EVIL
